Somaliland National Intelligence Agency Confirms Detention Of Seven Individuals Suspected of Affiliation with Al Shabaab
The National Intelligence Agency of Somaliland has officially announced the apprehension of seven individuals suspected of having ties to the Al Shabaab group. These suspects were intercepted upon their arrival from Jilib town in the Middle Juba region of Somalia, an area under Al Shabaab’s control.
As outlined in the security agency’s report, five of the detained individuals are male, while the remaining two are females believed to be the spouses of undisclosed high-ranking Al Shabaab members. The security agency has chosen not to disclose the identities of these officials at this time.
The National Intelligence Agency of Somaliland has disclosed that the apprehended individuals are part of a larger terrorist network consisting of 27 members. Currently, security agencies are actively pursuing the remaining 20 individuals associated with this network.
In October of the previous year, the agency reported the apprehension of ten foreign nationals suspected of having affiliations with terrorist organizations. These individuals, hailing from diverse nations such as Syria and Pakistan, were found in possession of Moroccan documents
