Somaliland President Appoints New Police Chief

Somaliland president Muse Bihi appointed new leadership for the police forces on Tuesday.

In a decree, president BIhi appointed former military officer, brigadier General Maxamed Aadan Saqadhi, knows as Dabagale, as the new commissioner of the police.

He will replace major Abdillahi Fadal Iimaan who died on Friday. Brigadier General Dabagale was the former chief of operations of the Somaliland national army.

The president also appointed Abdi Hassan Mire as deputy police commissioner. He will replace Brigadier General Faarax Maxamed Mire who was in office for merely twenty-one days. Reports indicate that the former deputy commissioner is suffering ill health. This was the shortest rein in the deputy police commissioner in Somaliland’s history.
