Waddani Party Expresses Deep Concerns Regarding Recent Hargeisa Murder Incident

The Waddani Party of Somaliland has voiced profound concerns following a tragic incident that occurred in Hargeisa last night, allegedly involving a police officer. Wali Abdi Jama, the Shadow Deputy Governor of Maroodijeeh region for the Waddani party, addressed the media on Wednesday, expressing deep regret over the incident.

Wali Abdi Jama emphasized the regrettable nature of the crime and underscored the party’s worry about the recurring issue of police actions against civilians, which he said poses a significant threat to the nation’s dignity. He stressed the urgent need for comprehensive police reform, focusing on improving their interactions with civilians and the conduct of their operations.

In his critique against the police force, Wali Abdi Jama questioned the tragic circumstances in which police bullets meant for enemies of the country end up harming civilians. He firmly believed that such actions could undermine Somaliland’s reputation and the integrity of its people if the police and security agencies continue to operate in this manner.

The Waddani Party’s concerns arose following the tragic killing of Mustafe Abees, the brother of self-imposed exile, author, and poet Abrihaman Abees, in Hargeisa last night, reportedly by a police officer for reasons yet undisclosed. Recent reports indicate that the security agencies have apprehended the suspect, who attempted to escape.
