Tunisian PM Lauds Strong Ties with Saudi Arabia, Signs Green Hydrogen Partnership

 

Tunisia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, have entered into a new partnership agreement focused on the production of green hydrogen to address global climate challenges and promote the development of sustainable and clean energy solutions.

The agreement according to them, is also anticipated to attract further investments in Tunisia’s energy sector, stimulate job creation, and foster technological innovation.

Tunisian Prime Minister, Ahmed Al-Hachani, emphasized the importance of producing alternative energy in Tunisia, particularly in light of the pressing climate challenges the world faces today.

He said this during a meeting with Marco Arcelli, CEO of the Saudi utility firm ACWA Power, at a reception organized to celebrate the new partnership agreement.

Hachani praised the long relations between Tunisia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stressing the importance of enhancing these ties further.

The Prime Minister reiterated the Tunisian government’s commitment to renewable energy as a key component of its national strategy, aimed at reducing dependency on traditional fossil fuels and mitigating the adverse effects of climate change.

Marco Arcelli, CEO of ACWA Power, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, underscoring the potential for Tunisia to become a hub for green hydrogen production in North Africa.

He highlighted ACWA Power’s expertise and successful track record in developing large-scale renewable energy projects, which will be instrumental in realizing the goals of the partnership.
