Somalia’s Southwest President and Defence Minister Visit Diinsoor Ahead of Second Phase Offensive Against Al-Shabaab
The President of the Southwest State in Somalia, Abdiaziz Hassan Laftagareen, along with the Minister of Defense of the Federal Government of Somalia, Abduqadir Mohamed Nur, and other notable officials, traveled to Dinsoor, of Bay region.
This visit aligns with the broader strategy of the Southwest Federal State and the Federal Government of Somalia in combating the Alshabab group. It follows the announcement by the President of the Federal government, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, during his visit to South Galkayo last month. According to the regional officials, this visit also is to participate in a pivotal reconciliation meeting currently underway in Dinsoor. The meeting is part of a broader initiative to foster dialogue and unity among the local communities.
A statement from the Presidency highlighted the leadership’s commitment to actively engage in the reconciliation process and contribute to the ongoing operations in the Southwest areas of Somalia.
