Somalia President advocates for security, Regional Stability during Somalia Quint Group Meeting in Abu Dhabi
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud participated in the Somalia Quint Group meeting held in Abu Dhabi which brought together representatives from key nations, including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Turkey. The central focus of the discussions revolved around enhancing support for Somalia’s stability and prosperity.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud underscored the paramount importance of preserving regional stability, safeguarding hard-won achievements against terrorism, and upholding Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The conference, attended by nations closely involved in supporting Somalia’s security, aimed to strategize on how the Somali government can bolster its fight against terrorism and foster international cooperation on security matters.
During his address at the conference, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud emphasized the critical role of respecting Somalia’s independence and unity in ensuring regional stability.
He highlighted the potential consequences that could arise from neglecting the hard-fought victories achieved in the war against terrorism.
Last year, the Federal Republic of Somalia hosted a landmark event at the United Nations Center in New York City, following the lifting of sanctions on weapons from the country. The discussions during that event focused on Somalia’s commitment to achieving security through the construction and equipping of its armed forces.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud stressed the importance of international assistance in this regard, outlining plans for building a well-equipped and capable military.
