Somalia National Army executed targeted operations against Al-Shabaab bases in the Lower Jubba region. Major Arab Dheeg Ahmed, leading the operation, confirmed the successful destruction of multiple militant bases in areas such as Yaaq-Halul, Qod-Qod, Beer-Hani, and Quddus. These locations were identified as strongholds of the group, which had reportedly been causing distress to the local population.
During the operation, the military forces meticulously dismantled the militants’ bases and eliminated potential threats, including the detection and disposal of explosive devices believed to have been planted by Al-Shabaab.
He emphasized that this operation is a crucial component of the Federal Government’s sustained efforts to eradicate Al-Shabaab presence throughout the nation, aiming to reinstate lasting peace and stability.
The security forces have affirmed their commitment to persist in these operations until all remnants of Al-Shabaab are completely eradicated. Simultaneously, counterterrorism initiatives are underway in various parts of Southern and Central Somalia, aligning with the Federal Government’s recently announced second phase of anti-Al-Shabaab operations.
