The world of Somali music mourns the loss of a beloved figure, Ahmed Naji Sa’ad, who has passed away in London. The confirmation of his passing was provided by his son, Yahye Ahmed-Naji.

Ahmed Naji will be remembered for his profound contributions to Somali theater, music, and literature. He was born in 1939 in the Shibis district of Mogadishu, formerly known as Bilaajo Arab, as indicated in his biography.

Following the collapse of the Somalia state in 1991, Ahmed Naji chose to reside in London, with infrequent visits to his homeland. His last visit to Somalia took place in 2011. His musical journey commenced in 1962 when his compositions were first broadcasted on Radio Mogadishu. One of his remarkable compositions, a Banaadiri track titled “Wuu Ahaaday Adduunka,” stood out among his numerous creations.

Notably, Ahmed Naji was a regular participant in the Radio Mogadishu program “Lugo-baxsi,” which aired every Sunday, providing a platform for artists to showcase their talents in a competitive environment
