Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) demands immediate stop to Israeli offensive in Gaza

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has called for a stop to the raging Israeli attacks in the occupied Gaza Strip which has led to the killing of innocent civilians including women, children.
The Saudi-based group said in a statement late Friday by its Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha to members of the UN Security Council, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross, and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk.
The group called on the international community to take immediate steps to end the Israeli military “aggression” against Palestinians in Gaza.
The statement further called for immediate humanitarian and relief supplies for Gaza, as well as international protection for the Palestinian people.
Similarly, the UN General Assembly called for an immediate humanitarian truce, with 120 states voting for a resolution put forward by Jordan.
There is a near-total blackout of communications in the Gaza Strip.
The Palestine Telecommunications Company says phone networks and the internet have been largely cut off amid heavy Israeli bombardment of feeder lines and towers.
Israel has been bombing Gaza since the 7 October Hamas attacks that killed 1,400 people and saw 229 people kidnapped as hostages.
The health ministry in the occupied Gaza says 7,000 people, including innocent women and children have been killed since Israel’s retaliatory bombing started.
