Minister of Finance Appears Before Somaliland’s House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee for Economic Status Review
In a confidential session held on Tuesday, the Minister of Finance for Somaliland, Sa’ad Ali Shire, engaged in discussions with the members of the House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee. The committee had summoned the minister to address inquiries regarding the nation’s current economic state.
Following the conclusion of the closed-door meeting, Minister Sa’ad Ali Shire and Public Accounts Committee Chairman Mustafe Khayreeye jointly briefed the media, confirming that their deliberations centered on the prevailing economic conditions of the country.
During the session, Minister Shire responded to queries from committee members, providing detailed insights and clarifications as outlined in his briefing.
Last month, Minister Shire emphasized the substantial challenges encountered by Somaliland’s commerce sector, notably due to a recent devastating fire that engulfed Wajale’s primary market, a vital catalyst for the nation’s economic advancement.
Minister Shire highlighted that the ongoing security issues in eastern Somaliland have further complicated the economic landscape. However, he expressed contentment with the resilient performance of the livestock and agricultural sectors throughout the year.
