Egypt, Palestine Extend Congratulations as Riyadh Secures Expo 2030 Hosting Rights
Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, emerged victorious in the bid to host Expo 2030.
The highly anticipated event, held once every five years, on Tuesday, saw Riyadh securing 119 votes, defeating contenders Busan and Rome, who received 29 and 17 votes, respectively.
This victory signifies a diplomatic milestone for Saudi Arabia, drawing parallels to the success of Qatar’s recent hosting of the soccer World Cup. The achievement underscores the Kingdom’s growing prominence on the global stage.
Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in its congratulatory message to Riyadh, conveyed its confidence in the Kingdom’s organizational capabilities for this crucial international gathering.
The ministry emphasized the appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s compelling bid and extended best wishes for continued success and progress to the Saudi people.
On his part, Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, personally congratulated Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on this momentous occasion.
He conveyed his country’s and the entire Arab world’s pride in this significant win, attributing it to the leadership’s wisdom, the competence of authorities, and the dedication of the Saudi people.
President Abbas extended heartfelt wishes for King Salman’s constant good health and happiness, alongside further progress and prosperity for the Saudi people.
He also congratulated Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, expressing confidence that Expo 2030 in Riyadh will be a success under his leadership.
