Djibouti, Türkiye Forge Strong Military Alliances with Trio of Agreements

Djibouti’s National Defence Minister Hassan Omar Mohamed, on an official visit to Ankara, engaged in significant collaborations with Türkiye as both nations signed crucial agreements and protocols. The agreements encompass a military training cooperation agreement, a military financial cooperation agreement, and a cash aid implementation protocol.

Minister Hassan Omar Mohamed was officially welcomed by Türkiye’s National Defence Ministry, represented by Minister Yasar Guler, with a military ceremony. Following this, a bilateral meeting unfolded, setting the stage for the signing of the agreements designed to bolster military ties.

The National Defence Ministry disclosed that the defence chiefs, alongside Turkish Land Forces Commander Gen. Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, convened a delegation-level meeting where the three important pacts were formalized.

The military training cooperation agreement is anticipated to facilitate joint training programs, fostering the enhancement of military capabilities for both nations.

Simultaneously, the military financial cooperation agreement aims to fortify financial connections concerning defense activities, fostering a framework for mutual support and cooperation in the defense sector.

The cash aid implementation protocol outlines the mechanisms for financial assistance between Djibouti and Türkiye.

With a population of less than a million, Djibouti holds a strategic position along the Gulf of Aden, serving as a vital transit point in the Red Sea.
