Hargeisa – Thursday, 9 October 2025 – The Public Assets Oversight and Monitoring Committee of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Somaliland held a meeting today with the Auditor General of the Republic. The meeting focused on issues related to audit regulations and anti-corruption efforts.

The session, chaired by the Committee Chairman Hon. Mohamed Jama Liban, was attended by several committee members. The key topics discussed included two main laws:

  • The National Audit Law (Law No. 76/2016)
  • The Anti-Corruption Law (Law No. 38/2007)

These laws are among the fundamental legal frameworks that govern government accountability, financial transparency, and the prevention of corruption.

On his part, the Auditor General, Mr. Muse Yusuf Osman (Idigaa), presented important recommendations and proposals for the amendment and development of these laws to align them with modern needs and administrative realities in the country.

The purpose of the meeting was to exchange ideas and recommendations regarding the two laws, with the Committee overseeing the process of reviewing, preparing, and submitting related legislative suggestions.
This meeting is part of the House of Representatives’ ongoing efforts to strengthen accountability, transparency, and anti-corruption measures, which are essential pillars of good governance and the protection of national public resources.
