Egypt Dismisses Israeli Claims on Rafah Crossing

Egypt has rejected allegations presented by the Israeli defense team at the UN court, asserting that Cairo is responsible for hindering the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing.

In an official statement, Diaa Rashwan, Head of the Information Service (SIS), dismissed the claims as lies.

He emphasized that top Israeli officials have repeatedly declared their unwillingness to allow aid, particularly fuel, into the Gaza Strip, framing it as a strategic aspect of their ongoing conflict with the territory.

Rashwan clarified that Egypt’s sovereignty extends only to the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing, while the other side, situated in Gaza, is subject to the occupation authority of Israel.

He reiterated Egypt’s consistent position that the Rafah crossing from the Egyptian side remains open without interruption, urging Israel on numerous occasions not to prevent the flow of humanitarian aid to the Strip.

The tension between Egypt and Israel over the Rafah crossing adds another layer to the complex geopolitical dynamics in the region.
