Egypt, Jordan Foreign Ministers Discuss Gaza Developments and Regional Security
Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Tuesday, met with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi, who was visiting Egypt, to discuss the developments in the Gaza Strip. The meeting took place in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.
In a statement released by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the two top diplomats exchanged opinions about the escalating Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza, efforts aimed at reaching a ceasefire, and the implementation of a key United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution demanding safe and unhindered humanitarian access across Gaza.
They also addressed the security of navigation in the Red Sea.
According to the statement, Shoukry disclosed that Egypt is willing to have more consultations and coordination with Jordan to confront common challenges and find solutions to security crises in the region.
The Jordanian Foreign Minister mentioned on X that they exchanged views on the ongoing coordination and consultation process between Jordan and Egypt to ensure a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
He also stated that they discussed ways to deliver adequate, urgent, and sustainable aid to Palestinians in Gaza.
