ATMIS deputy force commander commands collaboration between ATMIS and Somalia security forces in Jubaland

 

The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), Deputy Force Commander in charge of Support and Logistics, Major General Peter Muteti, has ended a two-day official visit to Jubaland State to assess the welfare of troops stationed in Dhobley.

Addressing the ATMIS personnel stationed in Dhobley town, Muteti expressed his admiration for the dedication and sacrifices of the Kenyan contingent serving with ATMIS. He highlighted their substantial contributions in mitigating threats posed by Al-Shabaab and safeguarding the civilian population in the Lower Juba region.

Muteti acknowledged the pivotal roles played by various ATMIS components, encompassing military, police, and civilian units. He encouraged them to steadfastly support Somalia in its pursuit of lasting peace and stability. Muteti also commended the troops for their robust collaboration with Somali security forces, the local administration, and the region’s inhabitants.

He emphasized the solemn obligation of ATMIS soldiers to safeguard lives during military operations and adhere rigorously to international laws, including International Humanitarian Law and other relevant conventions.
