Somalia’s Deputy Prime Minister Leads Council of Food Security and Climate Change Session

In a significant development aimed at addressing Somalia’s food security and climate change challenges, Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama presided over the Ministerial meeting of the Council of Food Security and Climate Change in Mogadishu.

During the session, key officials engaged in substantive discussions on strategies to enhance Somalia’s self-sufficiency in food production. The agenda also encompassed initiatives to mitigate the impact of climate change, given the recent devastating droughts and floods that severely affected local agricultural products.

Deputy Prime Minister Salah underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to prioritize domestic food production. Emphasizing the need for self-reliance, he stressed the importance of empowering Somali citizens to cultivate their own sustenance within the nation’s borders. This strategic approach aims to reduce reliance on imported food items, bolstering the nation’s food security resilience.

The Federal Government has consistently called upon both national and international stakeholders, including business leaders and partners, to actively support initiatives geared towards enhancing Somalia’s agricultural output.
