Arab Foreign Ministers Condemn Israel’s Siege of Gaza, Demand Urgent Aid

Arab foreign ministers gathered at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo on Wednesday to denounce Israel’s siege of Gaza, following a devastating attack by Hamas terrorists on southern Israel. The ministers demanded the immediate lifting of the blockade, urging Israel to allow essential aid into the densely populated enclave.

Israel’s complete siege of the Gaza Strip, which includes cutting off water, food, and electricity supplies, has intensified in the wake of Saturday’s massive assault by Hamas militants. The situation worsened as Israel continued its bombardment of Gaza for the fifth consecutive day, leading to the shutdown of the enclave’s only power plant due to fuel depletion, according to the Palestinian electricity authority.

During the meeting, Arab foreign ministers strongly condemned Israel’s actions and called for an immediate dispatch of humanitarian aid, including food and fuel, to alleviate the suffering of the impoverished population in Gaza. They also urged Israel to reconsider its decision to cut off electricity and water supplies to the region, emphasizing the urgent need for essential services.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas has led to widespread destruction in Gaza, with residential buildings, mosques, factories, and shops being targeted in the Israeli Defense Forces’ airstrikes. Salama Marouf from the Gaza government’s media office reported extensive damage, while medical supplies, including vital resources like oxygen, were running critically low at Gaza’s Al-Shifa hospital, as stated by emergency room physician Mohammed Ghonim
