Hargeisa – The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro), today held a significant strategic meeting with senior officers from the United States military responsible for security affairs in East Africa.
During the meeting, the President welcomed the delegation and expressed his appreciation for their visit to Somaliland. He discussed key issues related to strengthening security in the Horn of Africa and deepening the cooperation and partnership between Somaliland and the United States.
The President underscored the strategic importance of the Republic of Somaliland in the region and highlighted its vital role in maintaining peace and stability across the Horn of Africa.
He emphasized that Somaliland is a reliable partner and a responsible government that, for over 30 years, has consistently worked to uphold security, democratic governance, social development, and peaceful coexistence among the nations and peoples of East Africa.
The President also extended his gratitude to the U.S. Congress for supporting the Somaliland cause and acknowledged the promising shift in U.S. foreign policy, particularly in relation to Somaliland and Somalia.
In response, the senior U.S. military officials commended Somaliland for its stability and the significant role it plays in ensuring security both on land and at sea. They pledged to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas such as security, training, and technical support.
