Hargeisa – The Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Ahmed Yasin Mohamed Farah, accompanied by the Director General of the Ministry, Mr. Abdillahi Mohamed Mahmoud (Jiidhe), held a meeting today at his office with educated and athletic youth who are hearing-impaired, representing the regions of Awdal and Maroodi-jeex.
The focus of the meeting was to promote greater inclusion and participation of hearing-impaired youth in national development, particularly in the activities organized by the Ministry.
During the meeting, the following key points were agreed upon:
- That the inter-regional youth sports tournament will be opened to include hearing-impaired youth on an equal basis.
- That a special one-day competition will be held during the International Week of the Deaf.
- That staff of the Ministry of Youth and Sports will be trained in sign language to improve communication and service delivery.
This meeting highlights the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to ensuring equal opportunities and full participation for youth with disabilities.
