The Director General of the Ministry of Health Development of the Republic of Somaliland, Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Jama, officially launched the Polio Vaccination Campaign today, which has simultaneously commenced across all regions and districts of the country.
The launch event was attended by senior officials from the Ministry, including the Director of the Immunization and Child Health Department, the Maroodijeex Regional Health Coordinator, the Head of Health Awareness, the Head of Regional Coordination, as well as representatives from international organizations that collaborate with the Ministry, such as WHO and UNICEF.
This campaign, which will run from 28 September 2025 to 2 October 2025, aims to reach nearly 900,000 children under the age of five living across the regions and districts of the country.
The operation will be carried out by 2,360 teams working simultaneously across the nation. The Director General of the Ministry urged all citizens of Somaliland, particularly parents and community leaders, to actively participate in this polio vaccination campaign, emphasizing that every child has the right to a healthy life.
The Ministry of Health Development encourages the public to fully take advantage of this opportunity by ensuring that their children are vaccinated against polio, in order to safeguard their health and well-being in the future.
