Inauguration Ceremony of the New Mental Health Hospital Building in Berbera
The Minister of the Ministry of Health Development of the Republic of Somaliland, Hon. Dr. Hussein Bashir Hirsi, today officially inaugurated the newly constructed Mental Health Hospital in the city of Berbera.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by members of the Council of Ministers, the Manager of Somaliland Ports Authority, the Governors of the Sahil and Togdher regions, Director Generals, the Director of the Department of Mental Health, doctors, various officials, and a large number of distinguished guests.
Speakers at the event extensively highlighted the importance of this new facility and the significant role it will play in improving mental health services for the people of the Sahil region and the country at large.
During his speech, the Minister elaborated on the efforts and initiatives of the Ministry of Health Development in expanding and improving healthcare services nationwide, particularly in the area of mental healthcare.
The new facility, which cost $500,000, consists of the following:
Male Ward: 26 rooms
Female Ward: 12 rooms
Nurses’ Quarters: 6 rooms
Doctors’ Rooms: 3 rooms
Pharmacy
4 Administrative Offices
Conference Hall
Kitchen
Store Room
18 Bathrooms
Ambulance Garage
Ambulance Garage
This new hospital will serve as a key pillar in the provision of quality mental health services and will significantly contribute to the care and support of individuals with mental health needs across the Republic of Somaliland.
