Hargeisa Cultural Center of Somaliland Disavows Alleged Facilitation of Talks Between Somaliland and Somalia
In an official statement released by Hargeisa Cultural Center, the organization vehemently denies recent claims suggesting its involvement in future discussions between Somaliland and Somalia, as circulated widely on social media by certain journalists.
Responding to these assertions, Hargeisa Cultural Center, renowned for hosting the annual Hargeisa International Book Fair, categorically refutes the reports, asserting that they were crafted with the intention of tarnishing the organization’s reputation. The Center has firmly stated its commitment to holding accountable anyone responsible for disseminating these unverified claims.
Jama Muse Jama, the Founder of Hargeisa Cultural Center, labeled the report as misinformation in a statement posted on his official Twitter account. He clarified that neither he nor the Center had any association with the document in question, which was purportedly prepared by an individual falsely using their names. Jama emphasized that the report was disseminated, if not entirely fabricated, by irresponsible media outlets, urging them to substantiate the source of the document.
The contentious report alleged that Hargeisa Cultural Center, in collaboration with the Horn Dialogue Conference, was contemplating organizing a forum aimed at fostering dialogue between Somaliland and Somalia. This initiative was purportedly set to involve active participation from civil society and influential figures. Hargeisa Cultural Center, however, firmly denies any such involvement or plans for future talks.
