Waddani Party’s Secretary General Asserts Somaliland’s International Recognition will Hinge on LasAnod Inclusion
The Secretary General of the Waddani Party in Somaliland, Khadar Hussein, has asserted that international recognition for Somaliland hinges upon the inclusion of LasAnod, his remarks came after the armed militia’s full takeover of the city and military installations belonging to the Somaliland national army during the clashes on August 25th.
Khadar Hussein stressed that any suggestion that Somaliland could attain international recognition without LasAnod is misleading, referring to such claims as deceptive. He also underscored the impracticality of resolving the current regional situation through the use of firearms, highlighting Somaliland’s historical preference for peaceful approaches in territorial matters.
While acknowledging that peaceful resolutions were more attainable in the early stages of the conflict due to lower human and property casualties, Khadar cautioned against repeating past mistakes by resorting to force.
He further emphasized that continued casualties would only escalate human suffering and exacerbate hostilities among the public, urging a peaceful resolution through dialogue.
