Waddani Party Presidential Candidate, Addresses Security Concerns in Somaliland’s Eastern Regions
The Presidential candidate of Somaliland’s Waddani party, Abdirahman Irro, currently in London, has addressed a range of issues pertaining to security, the upcoming elections, and his party’s political campaign leading up to the 2024 Presidential election.
Irro expressed dissatisfaction with the escalating tensions in Buqdharkayn town, Sool region, where two Somaliland tribes recently clashed, resulting in loss of life. He urged President Bihi’s administration to take responsibility for resolving the conflict, emphasizing the need to prevent the escalation of hostilities into inter-clan conflicts in order to preserve lives and reduce tension.
In response to President Bihi’s recent endorsement of what Bihi termed as the civil defense forces, Irro strongly opposed the move, asserting that Somaliland already possesses national defense forces capable of safeguarding the nation and its citizens from any potential threats.
Concluding his remarks, Irro called upon the conflicting parties to cease hostilities and seek resolution through peaceful means, underscoring that every conflict ultimately concludes with peace, and advocating for the choice of peace in the interest of all involved.
