Waddani Party of Somaliland Asserts Position on Djibouti Talks Outcome
In response to the recently concluded dialogue between Somaliland and Somalia, the Waddani party of Somaliland has expressed its stance, highlighting concerns that the outcome of the talks may have adversely impacted Somaliland.
Chairman Hirsi Ali Hajji Hassan, in a statement on social media, emphasized the party’s commitment to safeguarding Somaliland’s sovereignty and independence. He stated that the party awaits any confidential information or updates from the delegation, reiterating their firm stance against any agreement that could jeopardize the nation.
The discussions between Somaliland and Somalia resulted in an agreement to fully resume talks and establish a joint committee tasked with creating a roadmap for future discussions within a 30-day timeframe. Additionally, both parties committed to collaborating on matters of security.
Recognizing the need for a conducive environment for ongoing dialogue, both governments have mutually agreed to refrain from actions that could potentially disrupt the progress of the negotiation process.
