UCID Party Chairman Advocates for De-escalation of Electoral Tension in Somaliland

In response to President Muse Bihi’s decision to return the approved electoral laws to the House of Elders, a move criticized by the Waddani party’s spokesperson, UCID party Chairman Feysal Ali Warabe has urged for a de-escalation of electoral tension.

In a recent post of his X account, Feysal Ali Warabe presented what he believes as potential solutions to the contentious issues surrounding the emerging electoral laws. He recommended that all parties involved refrain from making inflammatory statements in the media, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a constructive dialogue.

Warabe also stressed the necessity of an emergency meeting between the Parliament speakers to collaboratively establish electoral laws that inspire confidence across all political stakeholders.

On Monday, President Muse Bihi of Somaliland chose to send the recently approved electoral laws back to the House of Elders, responding to a request letter from the Speaker of the House of Elders.

The President’s decision aligns with the Speaker’s observation that the approved electoral law lacked adherence to requisite legal procedures, emphasizing the need for formal submission by the House of Representatives to the House of Elders.
