Taiwan Extends $2 Million Donation to Somaliland in Aid of Humanitarian Relief

The Government of Taiwan has contributed a sum of $2 million to Somaliland, earmarked to bolster humanitarian relief efforts. Both parties involved have conveyed their shared optimism that this financial contribution will serve as a substantial catalyst in addressing humanitarian concerns.

Allen Lou, Taiwan’s representative to Somaliland, announced this donation on Monday, expressing his conviction that Somaliland will effectively allocate these funds to facilitate the provision of essential resources, encompassing clean water, medical care, education, shelter, and sustenance.

Lou underscored the altruistic nature of the project, underscoring its focus on addressing the needs of the populace, and conveyed his sanguine expectations that the beneficiaries will indeed reap the benefits thereof.

Furthermore, Sa’ad Ali Shire, the Minister of Finance for Somaliland, extended his sincere appreciation to Taiwan for its unwavering support toward the citizens of Somaliland. He highlighted the burgeoning bilateral relationship between the two nations since the establishment of formal diplomatic ties.

Shire recounted Taiwan’s commendable track record in executing diverse developmental initiatives, encompassing sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, and technology, since the inauguration of its diplomatic presence in Hargeisa.
