Somaliland President meets with U.S top national security council.
According to the Somaliland Presidency, Somaliland President Muse Bihi and top US national security council members have discussed strengthening security relations between the two countries. The President also had a meeting with some members of the state department.
On his third day visit to the U.S.A. Somaliland President Muse Bihi continues his meetings with the top US government officials. The Somaliland Presidency stated that he engaged in talks with the top US national security council.
The two sides underlined the importance of collaboration on the security sector as Somaliland is in a conflict region. The US government did not give details on this matter. Somaliland officials also revealed that the President sat down with officials from the national endowment for democracy and the world bank.
He also had meetings with top US officials from the state department, department of defense and the United States Agency for International Development ( USAID). Although the United States expressed optimism about the discussions between the two sides, it ended that all the collaboration will be within the framework of a single Somalia policy. A statement expressed dissatisfaction by many Somalilanders as well as some Americans.
