Somaliland President Muse Bihi held talks with some of the U.S top officials from the state department on enhancing bilateral relations despite the US government stating that it welcomed Somaliland within the framework of single Somalia policy……
Somaliland President Muse Bihi has engaged in talks with top US officials from the state department, department of defense and the United States Agency for International Development ( USAID).
According to the Somaliland Presidency, the two sides focused on strengthening bilateral relations that could be trade, security and other mutual interests. The Somaliland government did not mention if maritime security was part of the discussion.
Meanwhile, the United States expressed optimism about the discussions between the two sides although it ended that all the collaboration will be within the framework of a single Somalia policy. A statement expressed dissatisfaction by many Somalilanders.
On Several occasions, Somaliland authorities reiterated that Somaliland has a strong case to be a member of the United Nations as a sovereign state and dashed Somalia’s hope of reunion.
