Somalia’s Prime Minister strengthens ties with Qatar in security and trade
Somalia’s Prime Minister, Hamse Abdi Barre, engaged in discussions aimed at bolstering security and trade collaborations during a visit to Doha, where he met with Qatar’s Chief of the Armed Forces, Salem bin Hamad Al Nabit, and leaders from the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Expressing gratitude, Prime Minister Barre commended Qatar for its consistent support in rebuilding Somalia’s security forces and its unwavering commitment to combating the threat posed by al-Shabaab. He lauded Qatar as a steadfast ally and a dependable friend to Somalia.
In turn, Qatar’s Chief of the Armed Forces expressed admiration for the Somalia government’s effective efforts in countering al-Shabaab and pledged to sustain support and cooperation with Somalia’s security agencies. Qatar’s commitment to enhancing stability and fostering development in Somalia was underscored, reaffirming the shared dedication to fortifying bilateral relations.
Also, the Prime Minister Barre engaged with influential figures from the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry to explore promising investment prospects in critical sectors like energy, infrastructure, and food security. He highlighted Somalia’s fertile ground for investment opportunities.
