Somalia Prime Minister to meet with Opposition Candidates for Second round of talks
Somalia Prime minister is expected to meet with the opposition presidential candidates of Somalia for a second round of talks aimed at the electoral process impasse in the country.
Mohamed Hussein Roble, the Somalia Prime minister is expected to have a meeting with the council of presidential candidates for a second round of talks to discuss the current political tension in the country amid the electoral disagreements.
According to reports, the meeting is expected to mainly focus on resolving the resumption of the anti government protests called by the opposition candidates as well as the incident of February 19 when security forces opened live fire at opposition protests in Mogadishu.
Reports say the meeting will resolve the formation of two committees. One will investigate the February 19 incident while the other will work out on the planned protests. The meeting last week resolved that the Federal Government will provide security to the protestors. The ten days elapse at the end of this week meaning the protests will likely take place on Friday.
The council of opposition presidential candidates urged the president to step down after his term office expired on 8th February and to hand over power to a transitional council which it said will be composed of speakers of the federal parliament, Federal Member State presidents, the council of opposition presidential candidates and civil society groups.
