As the recently agreed truce between Israel and Hamas takes effect, more hostages and prisoners have been released as part of the deal between the two warring sides. 39 Palestinians including women and minors have gained freedom from the Israeli jails while 13 Israelis held captive have also been released by Hamas…

A total number of 39 Palestinians, including six females and 33 minors, were on Sunday released from Israeli jails as part of a second batch of a prisoner swap deal between Israel and the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas.

Earlier on Saturday, 13 Israelis and four foreigners were freed from Gaza in coordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

The Palestinian news agency, WAFA, reported that a ICRC bus took 34 Palestinian detainees from the Israeli Ofer prison to Al-Bireh in the central West Bank.

Apart from more people getting freed, more aid crossed into Gaza Strip on Saturday through the Rafah border crossing including around 200 trucks carrying fuel and cooking gas.

So far, Israel and Hamas have exchanged 41 Israelis and foreigners for 78 Palestinians in Israeli jails in two batches during the first and second days of a four-day humanitarian truce.

The hostages and captives will be freed in two batches over the course of four days, according to the agreement.

The latest war in the Gaza Strip followed a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7 where about 1200 were killed.

In retaliation, Israel has since killed at least 14,854 Palestinians, including 6,150 children and over 4,000 women, according to health authorities in the war-torn enclave.
