Joyous Celebrations in Wad Madani as RSF Withdraws

Wad Madani, the capital of Al-Jazirah State, witnessed jubilant celebrations on Sunday as reports confirmed the withdrawal of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) from the city, which serves as a haven for hundreds of thousands of war-displaced individuals.

Following intense clashes between the army and the RSF since last Friday, citizens flooded the streets, expressing their relief with joyous chants, horn honking, and celebratory gunfire from exuberant army personnel who proclaimed, “The army has triumphed!”

The Central Market transportation hub, previously crowded with displaced persons, saw a significant reduction of movement, a contrast to the overwhelming crowds that had gathered since last Friday.

It would be recalled that the situation worsened over the weekend as residents from the eastern bank of the Blue Nile were forced to be evacuated to seek refuge in the city by crossing the Hantoub Bridge.

In an official statement, Nabil Abdallah, the spokesperson for the Sudanese military, emphasized the army’s successful repulsion of the RSF attack on Wad Madani.

He assured that the army and other security agencies would remain vigilant until the eradication of “any remaining rebel or dissident elements,” signaling a commitment to ensuring the city’s continued stability.
