Former Somalia house of representatives’ Speaker Urges citizens to joining counterterrorism efforts
Former Speaker of the Somalia House of Representatives, Mohamed Mursal Sheikh, has issued a compelling call to action for the nation’s citizens to actively participate in the ongoing counterterrorism endeavors within Somalia, with a particular focus on operations in the Southwest state towns, which has endured prolonged control by the Al-Shabaab group.
Drawing attention to the dire threat posed by Al-Shabaab to the region, Mohamed Mursal underscored how their presence had disrupted the lives of local residents, impeding access to crucial humanitarian aid. He emphasized that the most effective strategy to overcome this menace is through a unified and determined effort by the local population to confront Al-Shabaab and reclaim their territories.
In recognition of President Hassan Sheikh’s role in leading the counterterrorism campaign, Mohamed Mursal Sheikh commended the President’s unwavering commitment, noting his active presence on the frontlines in recent weeks as he urged federal state members to intensify their struggle against Al-Shabaab.
Furthermore, the federal government’s top leadership has been engaged in extensive dialogues with various segments of the community over the past few days, signaling preparations for the commencement of the second phase of the anti-Al-Shabaab campaign.
