Ethiopia, Germany Forge Closer Ties through Constructive Bilateral Meeting
In a diplomatic development, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed engaged in a productive bilateral meeting with Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin as political and economic collaboration takes center stage in talks between the two leaders. The discussions, aimed at bolstering the longstanding ties between Ethiopia and Germany, yielded agreements to enhance collaboration across various key sectors.
Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed posted on his X platform that the “meeting with Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin to further strengthen the political and economic ties between our two countries.
Abiy said the focus of the discussions revolved around expanding cooperation in crucial areas, including clean energy initiatives, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), fertilizer production, and regional security concerns.
He expressed that the collaborative efforts between Ethiopia and Germany extend beyond economic spheres, encompassing vital aspects such as climate change, energy, education, and regional peace and security.
The leaders emphasized the importance of joint efforts in addressing global challenges and contributing to the sustainable development goals set by the international community with particular attention was given to addressing climate change through shared initiatives in clean energy.
Acknowledging the urgency of the climate crisis, both nations pledged to work collaboratively on implementing sustainable practices and technologies, underscoring their commitment to mitigating the impact of climate change on a global scale.
Additionally, Ethiopia and Germany affirmed their dedication to regional peace and security, recognizing the interconnectedness of stability in the region with broader international peace efforts.
