Covid-19 Vaccine will not alter DNA, cause infertility in men, women- Ghanaian President
The president of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo has called on the citizens of the country to ignore conspiracy theories surrounding Covid-19 vaccines ahead of its nationwide inoculation campaign against the virus.
The president said this in his national televised address on measures taken to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Nana Akufo-Addo said conspiracy theories that have been propounded about the vaccines must be ignored, assuring that the vaccines are safe and will not have any adverse effect on the health of recipients.
The President further discredited other viral false claims of post-vaccination saying, taking the vaccine will not alter the DNA of the recipient, it will not embed a tracking device in their body, neither will it cause infertility in women or in men.
In his words of assurance, Akufo-Addo argued that Ghana’s regulatory agency the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), has certified the safe use of the vaccine.
In order to further allay the fears of the people of his country, the president said he and other senior political, religious, judiciary and legislative leaders would take their shots in public on Tuesday.
Ghana was the first country to receive vaccines as part of the global COVAX scheme aimed at providing poorer nations vaccines to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ghana has recorded 84,023 coronavirus cases and 607 deaths, with nearly 200 deaths in the past month alone.
