US President Donald Trump has said that Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, informed him that he will “eradicate whatever is left of Isis in Syria”.
Donald trump tweeted saying that President Erdogan of Turkey has very strongly informed him that he will eradicate whatever is left of ISIS in Syria….and he is a man who can do it plus, Turkey is right “next door.” The American troops are coming home!……
President Trump also said that they discussed ISIS, their mutual involvement in Syria, and the slow and highly coordinated pullout of US troops from the area,” They also talked about the heavily expanded” trade between the US and Turkey after the two NATO allies’ relationship went into a tailspin over the summer as a result of a number of issues.
In a separate tweet Erdogan said he had a productive call with (Donald Trump) in which they agreed to strengthen their coordination on a range of issues, including trade relations and the developments in Syria.
Trump’s suprise decision to pull troops out of Syria also prompted the early resignation of the US’s top envoy in the fight against ISIs, Brett Mc Gurk, who said he would leave at the end of the year, instead of in mid-February as previously planned.
