Kenya Airways resumes flights to Mogadishu after two years

Kenya Airways has resumed its flights to Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, after a hiatus of more than two years. The first flight, which carried cargo, landed at Aden Abdulle International Airport on February 9, 2024. It was also the first flight to display the official logo of the Kenyan national carrier in Mogadishu, signalling the start of regular flights between the two cities.

The Somalia Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) welcomed the return of Kenya Airways, saying it was part of its plan to increase international flights to the country and provide more options for travelers.

According to management, the new freighter offers an extended range, connecting vital cargo hubs and opening new opportunities for cargo services to meet customers’ demands and an ever-evolving market.

Initial reports say, Kenya Airways will also be resuming direct passenger flights between Nairobi and Mogadishu starting February 15.
