Taqaddum to Hold Talks with Rapid Support Forces Chief Today

The Sudanese pro-civilian Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces, known as Taqaddum, is set to engage in discussions with Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Chief Mohamed Hamdan Daglo in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Monday. The delegation from Taqaddum will be led by the former Prime Minister and Tagaddum Chairman, Abdallah Hamdok.

According to a statement released by the coalition on Sunday, the meeting will focus on addressing issues related to the protection of civilians, facilitating humanitarian aid delivery, and exploring pathways towards a peaceful resolution of the ongoing conflict in Sudan.

Leaders of Taqaddum consider this meeting crucial to facilitate an intra-Sudanese process aimed at restoring a civilian-led transition and ultimately paving the way for general elections.

They underscored the importance of aligning these efforts with regional and international initiatives particularly those led by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the African Union (AU), and the Jeddah Platform to put an end to the conflict.

The Taqaddum has previously reached out to Sudan’s Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and Hemetti, urging them to engage in urgent discussions to address the humanitarian crisis and seek a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

While al-Burhan has not responded to the coalition’s request, Taqaddum stated that they are in discussions with the military leadership to finalize arrangements for a meeting between the two parties.

The coalition expressed hope that the discussions will result in concrete steps to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people and contribute to bringing stability and peace to the troubled region.
