Military Court in Somalia Issues Eight-Year Prison Sentences to Two IS Members
The Armed Forces Court of Somalia has sentenced Abdiqani Adan Ali and Ahmed Ali Diriye, both identified as IS militants, to eight years in prison following their conviction for association with the group.
The court revealed that the individuals, who were also former members of al-Shabaab, were influenced to join IS through the social media platform Telegram.
On October 16th of this year, security forces apprehended Abdiqani with a bag containing two F1 bombs, intended for Ahmed Ali Diriye at the front row of the Alnur Mosque in Dabkayo-madow, Dharkenley district. Following an extensive investigation, the Military Court granted the Prosecution Office’s request to consolidate both cases for trial on the 11th of this month.
Major Hassan Ali Nur Shute, Chairman of the Armed Forces Court, disclosed that after allowing sufficient time for all parties involved to present their cases, the judge delivered an eight-year military prison sentence to both Abdiqani Adan Ali and Ahmed Ali Diriye
