Waddani Party Alleges Somaliland National Tender Board Over Corruption

The Waddani party of Somaliland has raised serious allegations against the National Tender Board, citing concerns related to transparency and allegations of systematic corruption within the current administration.

Mohamed Saddiq Dhamme, Secretary of Social Affairs for the Waddani party, publicly presented a list of accusations to support these claims. He pointed out a notable discrepancy where the Auditor General had approved a budget for 50 government vehicles in the 2022 annual budget, while the National Tender Board had only advertised bids for 20 vehicles.

In his remarks, Dhamme highlighted another concerning matter, revealing that the government had initially planned to undertake the construction of 16 dams across the country. However, the National Tender Board had issued bids for only five of these dam projects. This revelation prompted Dhamme to request a detailed report from the government, seeking clarification on the status and management of the remaining dam projects.

Mohamed Saddiq Dhamme emphasized that, in his view, the National Tender Board is not the sole government entity implicated in alleged corruption. He extended his concerns to the Somaliland Civil Service Commission, urging the public to hold these government entities and the current administration accountable for their actions.”
